We can haz Intercon game!

So this isn't the game I was originally planning to premiere at this con, because The Border War or whatever I was going to call it had extensive set requirements, and I just. No fucking spoons to deal with fucking sets. Not happening.

Instead we're premiering something else, something so new that we haven't mentioned it to anyone ever. Not even on our website, which needs to be updated but I'm having fucking server problems.

Towering in the mountains over an endless desert, the last and greatest city on earth stands tall and proud. In the glittering heights, the rich and powerful hobnob and toast. Elizabeth Faulker herself, C.E.O. of Faulker Power Limited, is hosting a press conference and reception celebrating several events of note. An important scientific discovery in a small country town, a new breakthrough in research into human augmentation. The third anniversary of the landmark victory over and annexation of Taiyuan, led by the celebrated General Andreasson, who will be speaking tonight. And, of course, it is her dear son Cantwell's sixteenth birthday.

Below those towers, well...that's a different story. But who has time to worry about poverty, crime, and epidemics when they have a world to rule? Evenings like this have happened before, and the world has kept turning towards destruction. But perhaps not this time...

Folding the River is a futuristic science-fantasy game of power, passion, and desperation, which may or may not involve time travel. This game contains sexual content, war crimes, and other dark subjects, and is recommended for mature players. This is a Paranoid and Crotchety production.

Friday night at Intercoooooooon! Now with more fucking swearing.

IIIIT'S LARP PIMPING TIME!!

So y'all may have heard about this already, but the lovely [livejournal.com profile] nyren and his associates have organized a weekend of FREE LARPing at WPI in Worcester. It's November 19th to 21st, and did I mention that it's FREE?

[livejournal.com profile] mllelaurel and I are running two games there, back to back, on Saturday. First, from noon to 1 pm, we have...

There's a neighborhood where the police don't go. Where gunshots sometimes ring in the streets. No, it ain't some run-down ghetto or nest of teenaged gangsters. It's a little winding suburban development, lawns and shrubbery, arbors and porches, with the soft meows echoing from that crazy cat lady down the street. But it's also a place full of old folks, and they're old folks that didn't go down easy. No nursing homes for them. Independent living for men and women old enough that they've paid all their dues and no longer give a damn about what other people think. And, one and all, they're armed and dangerous...

The All Crotchety Old Folks With Shotguns Game: does exactly what it says on the tin!

This is a brand-new game! World premiere! Game hasn't even been written yet. Will probably be written a week before the con while we're drunk, because this is exactly the kind of game that you can do that with. Crack!

Then, after lunch to sober up, from 2 pm to 6 pm...

In the distant, shadowy past of myths and legends, deep in a lonely mountainous forest, where magic still pulses and saber-tooth tigers still roam the land, lives a small, isolated tribe of hunters and warriors, reclusive folk with strange ways and powerful gods. It is a full moon night, when the tribe holds council, and there is a full feast of argument and debate to come. The medicine woman has yet to choose a successor; the chief has taken a questionable lover. And four foreigners, strange outsiders, have taken sanctuary with the tribe, lived among them, and there are many who rankle at the thought.

Time for secrets to be spoken and paths to be decided. Will the outsiders stay past the dawn? Who will lead the tribe and keep its traditions? It is council night, the time of voices and change and strange, little-told tales, and as these passionate people struggle for unity, their hidden wood will ring with the sound of drums...

The Sound of Drums is a character-driven game for eighteen to twenty-four players, full of passion, politics, drumming, and storytelling. Players are encouraged to bring hand drums or other primitive percussion instruments, and/or play if instruments are available, but it is not a requirement for anybody, and no musical ability is necessary to enjoy this game. This game contains pervasive themes of bisexuality and polyamory, and is recommended for mature players.

This will be the second run of The Sound of Drums, which premiered to rave reviews at the most recent Intercon. Seriously, we heard multiple "best game of the con" from people, partially due to the fantastic energy our players had. It'll be interesting to see how the second run goes!

Sign-ups open at 7 pm tonight. Hard to tell how fast these games will fill up, so you might want to hop to it. And did I mention that they're FREE?

Post is a tad late due to kitty moofing my face! Yay kitty!

So we are heading into that last third-and-change of Blogathon where my posts will get increasingly fillery. Not that I won't still be writing. I have a bit more to break my 10,000 word goal, if nothing else! And plugging away on a project like this helps me keep going through the dark hours.

I actually am feeling vaguely tired right now. Which has not happened this early in previous years. Here's hoping I can keep it under control. :)

But you know what would really make my moment right now? Even though I hate having WGBH moments in my LJ? Sponsors. I set myself a goal of $500, which I'm pretty sure, at this point, that I have no hope of reaching. Right now I stand at $60 from two donors ([livejournal.com profile] usernamenumber and [livejournal.com profile] jennaria, you are MADE OF AWESOME.) At this point, my goal? Breaking a hundred. That's it. Less than I raised in my first year doing Blogathon.

So if you have some money to spare, go pledge. It'll go towards relieving world hunger in a particularly elegant and fuzzy way. It'll go to support this random fangirl who's written over 9,200 words of fan novel in the past 15 hours. It'll be AWESOME.

And also? Check out my fellow Team Venture folks.
[livejournal.com profile] shadesong is blogging for the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center. With charity auctions full of awesome stuff!
[livejournal.com profile] jennifer is blogging for BARCC on her Dreamwidth, with nifty flash-fanfiction!
[livejournal.com profile] slipjig is blogging for National MS Society, starring the Hat of Destiny!

Happy witching hour, and happy August!

This post is part of Letterblade's Blogathon 2010 madness, to raise money for Heifer Project International. Please go here to pledge your support.

THE FANFICTION LOVE MEME

*wiggles, blows kisses, mentions yet again that she makes jewelry for a living, darts off to do so*

*darts back*

AWESOME! A periodic table of the elements...in cupcakes.

Where a) IT is the move, which was, IMHO, a grand success, and resulted in everything except the big furniture being moved, most up three flights of stairs, in under four hours. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH.

Where b) IT is the [livejournal.com profile] kink_bingo entry, being five fics of highly varying quality, in three fandoms, two femmeslash, two het, one slash, totalling about 15 k, mostly written this past week. Also a WEBSITE UPDATE, which includes those five plus the two Steve/Tony fics I finished for the Fourth.

Cross-posting the [livejournal.com profile] kink_bingo post below, with notes:

Card (unmarked, as I lack a graphics editor at the moment) viewable here.

Author: Letterblade ([livejournal.com profile] wired_lizard)
Fandoms: Marvel Comics (3), Revolutionary Girl Utena (1), Fullmetal Alchemist (1)
Kinks: Mirrors, Bondage (held down), Silence, Rough Sex, Bukkake

Cat's Eye
Mirrors, with extra dubcon, pseudo-knifeplay, and general fuckiness.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Sloth/Lust. (F/F)
Sloth reaches round, slides two damp fingers along her collarbone, slick over her skin, to circle the ouroborus high on her chest, red stamp on white skin.
Note: IMHO, this sucks.

Submission Hold
Bondage (held down), no particular extras.
Marvel Comics: Steve Rogers/Tony Stark. (M/M)
But then Steve pounces and brings him down to grappling, and it's all muscle and grip, and Tony doesn't stand a damn chance.
Note: Really not sure about this one.

Telepaths Don't Need...
Silence, with extra caning, breathplay, forced masturbation, and general heavy kink.
Marvel Comics: Emma Frost/Tony Stark. (F/M)
You don't go calling out a Queen of the Hellfire Club unless you know exactly, exactly what you're asking for.
Note: [livejournal.com profile] dafnap and [livejournal.com profile] quigonejinn would like to warn you that this might melt people's faces from how psychotically hot it is.

Antique and Breakable
Rough sex, no particular extras.
Marvel Comics: Steve Rogers/Sharon Carter. (M/F)
There's a war on, and she has the link to give away his location to his enemies in her boot, and she's pressed to his chest like he's the only thing in the world, kissing him hard with his hands in her hair, hard and hungry. Last meal.
Note: Meh.

Black and Blue
Bukkake, with extra strap-on and a dash of spanking.
Revolutionary Girl Utena: Kaoru Kozue/Takatsuki Shiori. (F/F) (Shut up, girls ejaculate too!)
All of which goes to say, I met somebody just now who has exactly this same problem. Not the brother. The memory. The elevator. Pink-haired creep, butterflies, revolution, the lot. And here I thought I was eight years out of this shit.
Note: I DONE GIRLPORN. This and the Emma/Tony are the ones I'm really proud of out of this bunch.

No, this isn't the Blogathon announcement. Though that will be coming soon!

I'm offering fic on [livejournal.com profile] livelongnmarry, which is a community (not all fandom) raising money to defend California's equal marriage laws. They're working on a bidding system, so I only have to write one fic in the end (which is good for me--means I won't flake out!), which means y'all only have one chance!

THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!

Ahem. Ignore the references to a show I've never seen! ^^

SO. GO. Bidding starts tonight at midnight PST.

*selfpimps*
letterblade: (tony)
So I've been accumulating things I've been meaning to post in my Firefox tabs for, like, ages now. LINK DUUUUMP.

1. Fic: First off, I have to BLARE THIS ONE WITH TRUMPETS, because as far as I'm concerned, it's one of the best damn Steve/Tony things I've ever read. Seriously. Amazingly psychologically intimate. A lot of writers kind of dance around the whole how-Steve-relates-to-sex-thing because, well, it's hard to get a finger on. But she runs straight at it and nails it, and the results are, um, HOTTER THAN HOT. And incredibly insightful, and kind of getting filed in my personal fanon. Also, she claims this is her first time writing an extended sex scene. I don't believe her. Attack/Retreat, by [livejournal.com profile] schmevil.

2. Fic: Blinded by the Light, by [livejournal.com profile] jamailith. Movie-verse. Tony Stark/Scott Summers. On a car. Hhhhhhhhhooooooooot!

3. Scans: If fandom has not already taken this as a nice big organizational hint, then it SHOULD. Because there absolutely should always be somebody dressed up like Captain America at gay pride marches. Cosplayers unite!

4. Scans: The Top 100 What If Countdown. There is a metric ton of awesome here. (Assuming an average of 10 kilograms of awesome per What If? story.) My personal favorite, though, by far, is #2: What If Captain America Were Revived Today? (the 1984 version), because it may be a bit soapboxy, but it's an awesome kind of soapboxy. The kind that makes statements about what patriotism really means, and how Steve Rogers is honorable and old-fashioned and patriotic without, y'know, being a flaming asshole like most people who wave the word around. (Also, awesomeness generally results when Steve is really, genuinely, royally pissed off, which is generally both rarer and more impressive than I expect.)

5. Fic: Thick as Thieves, by [livejournal.com profile] hegemony. Movieverse. Tony/Rhodey/Pepper. Er, make that Rhodey/Pepper/Tony. Kinky. Hot. AWESOME. I want that bed.

6. Scans: In which Steve is sulky until he and Tony work out their relationship issues. If you go trolling for Steve/Tony slashiness, you've probably seen at least some of this before, but this is the whole thing and relatively easy to follow.

7. Scans: In a radical departure from the Iron Man corner of the world, old man Logan. In which Logan is a crotchety broken-down old farmer in a supervillain-ruled America, going on a road trip with an equally crotchety and blind Hawkeye in a modified Spider-Mobile. CRANKY OLD MEN FOR THE WTF.

8. Fic: Machinations of the Heart(s), by [livejournal.com profile] riot__libertine. Movie-verse. Doctor Who crossover. Tenth Doctor. Beginning of something possibly ongoing.

9. Fic: I Hate Everything About You">, by [livejournal.com profile] fangirl_lizzie. Movie-verse with comics touches. Tony Stark/Bruce Wayne. Sap and antagonism.

*pants* There, I think that's it. Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] quigonejinn continues to write hot-as-a-motherfucker movie-verse Obadiah/Tony. Just as a general rule.
letterblade: (thor)
So as I made clear this morning, today sucked. Balls. Until I got home and loaded up the f-list. Whereupon various bits of the Iron Man movie fandom left me laughing with glee. SRSLY. MAJOR PICK-ME-UP, GUYZ.

Not fic: A date with Tony Stark's car. (The Audi R8. Fo realz. I love that this sort of thing gets posted as a FANDOM RESOURCE. LOVE.)

Fic: [livejournal.com profile] atrata complains that she is not in control of her Iron Man thing. I don't mind. He sounds mostly sincere when he says, "I promise I am not just trying to get you naked. That would involve, I don't know, better music." All innuendo, no porn.

[livejournal.com profile] quigonejinn (WHO I'M PRETTY SURE IS INSANE IN ALL THE BEST WAYS) knows where Tony points his security cameras (and so does Pepper) and makes a fucking hot good case for Obadiah/Tony. (Even if she spells it with an e.) Where Tony finds women who go drinking with a strapon in their clutch purse is beyond her, but Tony seems to get what he wants out of it. NSFW, very porn. Also, don't just read the fic, read the comments. This, for one, turned my day from SUXXORS to ROFLCOPTER.

And [livejournal.com profile] hackthis knows that Real Friends Help You Get Naked. When Pepper bends him over a desk, Tony gets really excited, and then there's the sound of metal being wrenched into submission by a very angry woman and Tony sighs. All innuendo, no porn. Except by text message. And JARVIS. Um.

IRON MAN MOVIE FANDOM, YOU WIN ONE INTERNETZ.
letterblade: (tony)
chase the higher ground, by [livejournal.com profile] cerebel. Movieverse. Tony/Yinsen. Dark and sparse and perfectly painful; NSFW.
letterblade: (smut)
There's a small handful of links I need to gather up and post--various findings during my trolling for Iron Man fic (first movie canon only, now venturing into comics canon as I do various reading)--but I really really want to just throw these two up right now. Because, dude, TONYPORN.

He is supposed to say, "That will be all, Miss Potts," but instead he just stares and shakes his head. "Um, I--Yeah. I've got a thing and," he gestures vaguely toward the rest of the house. "With the, yeah." And then he's gone.

FOOTPORN. With Pepper. (And damn does it work.) "A Small and 100% Innocent Token of Gratitude," [livejournal.com profile] svilleficrecs.

"May I make a suggestion, sir?"

Tony waved his glass in a magnanimous gesture. Some magnanimity slopped over the side, trickling through his fingers. "Long as it doesn't involve lubricant."

SUITPORN. With, well, the suit. (And Jarvis, but that's getting complicated.) "The Value of Secrets," [livejournal.com profile] mayatawi.

Also, Captain America/Iron Man is my new crack. And have discovered that an old friend of mine from Bennington writes it. And it's goooooood. Must go stalk her now...

(I totally need a pimping icon!)

Target audience for this pimpin':
- Boston area or able to get there
- interested in LARPing
- not involved in the Brandeis LARP Conspiracy (only because, if you are, you've already heard about this)

Ever wanted to be a superhero for a weekend?

MASKS: Superheroes Have It Damned Tough, a weekend-long LARP presented by Foam Brain Productions. Runs at Brandeis in Waltham on the weekend of November 30 to December 2. They're still looking for players and casting hasn't started yet, so feel free to sign up if you can make it!

I've played in a couple of Foam Brain's productions before. They tend to run high-energy plot-action games, leaning somewhat to the gamist end of things, but with interesting enough characters to keep a simulationist like me quite happy. They have good props, and I know a few of the GMs on this run and they are very Good People.

If rides to Waltham and/or crash space are concerns, I could attempt to allay them.

Consider yourself pimped at! *twirls cane*
