letterblade: (ffx)
So I've been replaying FFX. (This is why I've been relatively absent from the interwebs; I basically work, whether on job or unpacking, come home, game, and go to sleep. Most of the way through this replay, so I might exist again soon. Couch slug!*) And I noticed a batch of shit I didn't the last two times.

(Seriously. This is part of why I LOVE THAT GAME. Every time through you notice more things that just add up into another layer of WRONG.)

Mega-spoilers. Spoilers will affect your whole party for massive damage. )

The other, completely unrelated thing that I noticed this time through? So...much...Al Bhed...fetish gear. I mean, I'd noticed Rin's big honkin' bondage collar before, but hadn't really paid attention to Rikku's crotch strap in her jumpsuit early on, or the assorted gas masks. Kinda feeds into my vague theory of crazy Al Bhed orgies.

Though, in a way, that's carrying the this-world assumption into Spira that the religious establishment is going to be sexually conservative. Which, at least to a certain extent, is infeasible, because the religious establishment is going to want people to BREED LIKE RABBITS to keep up with Sin. No religious taboos on (hetero, reproducing) sex, no celibacy for officials or monks; hell, Auron was disgraced for NOT taking a wife. (Which feeds into my "he's so hard gay" theory, which only gets set aside for Auron/Lulu, because [livejournal.com profile] auronlu is a foul temptress.)

Anyway. Seymour is a messed, MESSED man, and the more I think about it, the more I wish they'd gone into it a little more.

* Cyn used to give me so much crap about doing this. But I think it's relatively normal obsessive gamer behavior. Right? Bueller?

Hrm.

Labyrinth participation canceled at last moment. So not going into it.

The upside of this is that I might actually be human again soon.

In the meantime, have (if you so want) random FFX femmeslash.

(For some reason, this time around with the FFX fandom squee, it has been all femmeslash and het. Feeling the Auron/Lulu love, and let's not even get into the multiple rarefemmeslash pairings I've been pelted with. WTF, fandom squee?)

Sending, for lack of a better name: Yuna/Yunalesca, Yuna/Tidus, spoilers for X and X-2, PG at the most.

OMFG this has been so interesting! So long--far longer than it's supposed to be. (Then again, I do live with Cyn "You don't mind a twenty-page character sheet, right?" Wakefield.) But...wow. Obscenely proud of some parts of this.

Character profile for Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody.

Quote, from the friends and family section:

Best friends for Alastor means more comrads-in-arms, unless you count the fellow he did all his homework with back at Hogwarts, who he would never admit was Mundungus Fletcher--bad apple he turned out to be. He respects Dumbledore more than just about anyone else, but never really considered himself to know him; Caradoc Dearborn he'd gone drinking with since the first year of Auror training, at least until he had to give the eulogy over an empty grave; Edgar Bones, too, grand fellow, and Alastor had been the one to find the body slumped over his morning porridge with his monocle askew and his wife mangled beside him, and Alastor had been the one to close his eyes; Frank Longbottom, his cousin, closest thing he'd had to a brother until he went to St. Mungo's; Dorcas Meadowes, the only woman he ever met who was both beautiful and entirely sensible, and there was a time when he might have admitted thinking other things about her, too, but by the time Voldemort was done with her she was nothing but a pile of ash, sprinkled like dust round the words written in the dirt in her own blood, kill me, please, just kill me...

And context: this is a character profile for Hallowed Be Their Names, an RPG [livejournal.com profile] mllelaurel and I are starting up, inspired by Corpus Delicti, late nights, and characters eating our brains. I'm playing Alastor Moody, Merope Gaunt, and Albus Dumbledore at age 18. A delightful mix! XD So consider this game-pimping...still pulling together the last few introductory posts and technical details, but open to apps!

Blurb; cut for DH spoilers and AU-ness... )

AD/GG. No sex, just talking and kinky undertones. Despite the lack of Tom, this grew out of variously cycling contemplation of Tom's fear of death and comparing his psychology with others.

Are you afraid of Death? )

I DID IIIIIIIIIIT!

About 9,500 total words of fic!

And I feel surprisingly good!
letterblade: (dumbledore)

...with Deathly Hallows spoilers. Even the pairing has Deathly Hallows spoilers. AD/GG, shall we say?

It was not easy to attempt to write in this fandom again after so long. Really hard, actually, especially since my style, especially my smut style, has mutated tremendously since I last tried my hand at young!Albus pastfic. But I kinda had to try after all the hot slashiness. If I actually beat the fandom to this pairing, I am going to wet myself. o.O

Just a brief and contextless scene )
letterblade: (writer)

Edit: Had this friendslocked because it was a draft, but a number of people have been asking after it, so I'm making it public.

So that Master/Doctor/Jack ficspam I've been doing recently? I think it's turning into a full-blown series. Possibly quite a few plotless, continuityless, shamelessly kinky, vaguely wrong PWPs with pretentious titles. Merf? This is a new sort of thing for me to be writing.

I'm pretty sure this is the fourth, not the third--I know what the third should be and I haven't written it yet--but this burst out of me like an alienbaby today and I'd like to get it off my chest before it keeps chewing.

(Also need to do a revision run on the second and officially post it to comms. Should do that soon. Also designing website; should do that first. Aflaaaaack!)

The second sequel I wasn't planning to write to A Brief Lecture on the Appeal of Constants. Just Master/Jack this time. BDSM as always. And, er, what one might expect the Master to do with somebody like Jack at his disposal. Pseudo-snuff, should I call it? Um. And weird Time Lord extra senses. Still of course in slashfic la-la-land outside of continuity; still character spoilers for Utopia and Sound of Drums.

(In terms of a character having an unexpected reaction and emotional development, this was actually one of the more interesting things I've ever written. This did not end where either the Master or I expected it to. But that's just authorial nattering.)

It's so simple, really. Simple, and inevitable. )
letterblade: (smut)

It is apparently [livejournal.com profile] fandom_me's birthday! In celebration of this illustrious event (well, only sortof--was already working on it, didn't know your birthday was coming up, but if I know anyone to dedicate this sort of fic to, it's you), have Vicodin-induced porn.

The sequel I wasn't planning to write to A Brief Lecture on the Appeal of Constants. Master/Doctor/Jack, very NC-17, very PWP, heavy BDSM, sensory deprivation, hypnotism, telepathy, other fun stuff. One of the kinkier things I've written, um, ever. Aiii. Still of course in slashfic la-la-land outside of continuity; still character spoilers for Utopia and Sound of Drums.

'On your knees,' I say pleasantly, and point. 'Back against the railing. Spread your arms.' )

Fic for [livejournal.com profile] dwliterotica June Challenge!

Title: Need (Illegitimate)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] wired_lizard
Rating: NC-17
Pairings: Gwen/Rhys, Gwen/Owen, Gwen/Ianto
Warnings: light BDSM, surprise buttsex, angst
Spoilers: Torchwood season 1
Summary: While Nauthiz has been associated with the myth of Frey and Gerd, the Norse word from which it is named, naudh, means needfire, flame kindled with a fire-bore; it is a self-generated flame, requiring tremendous internal energy to overcome the frictions of life; Jack's gone, and everything's going to hell.
Notes: Runic research in Edred Thorsson and Diana L. Paxson. Inscription from a Norwegian alphabet poem. Analysis of foot massages in relation to jealousy from Quentin Tarantino. Beta by [livejournal.com profile] mllelaurel.

Her phone is full of messages from Tosh, asking where she was, we need a hand, Gwen, you're good with the paperwork. )

Fic-Related Stuff

1. Final edit of A Brief Lecture on the Appeal of Constants up.

1.5 The little Master voice in my head provided another line of dialogue just after the end of that fic which I thought might amuse: "Now, my dear Doctor, I want to watch you work. And I don't think I feel like doing anything until handsome Jack here is begging me to hurt him. So. Break him."

2. Self-pimped my recent kinky PWPs on [livejournal.com profile] solid_leather.

2.5 Also pimping [livejournal.com profile] solid_leather itself. Piiiiiimp! Dedicated to all kinks in all forms and moderated by the exquisite, brilliant author of Nothing but Flowers. Go, pet it, love it!

3. Have account on A Teaspoon and an Open Mind under the name Letterblade. Radical! Getting bored of Arkady; not going to try changing my name everywhere, but, hey, new fandom, and almost entirely a new start, seeing as how long it's been since I was active as a fanwriter. Will be doing an archive run on Sunday.

4. Still arguing with [livejournal.com profile] dw_literotica challenge. Will finish that if I have to towel-whip the Gwen-muse into submission, goddamnit! Off to rewatch Out of Time and End of Days and make more sense of her attitude towards Rhys.

5. Got a couple of ficlets to empty out of the notebook and post. One's going up right now...

Actual Fic!

...because it's going to get jossed in a few days. Spawned from a theory I had a bit after watching Sound of Drums (so spoilers for that) and inspired by THOSE PICTURES of Jack in Last of the Time Lords (so sortof spoilers for that).

Centennial - one hundred taken, one hundred given, four hundred words of rampant speculation. Quatradrabble with a dash of kink.

Just an interesting mental image I had... )

Mm-hm. Did I mention my part of the world's been having one hell of a heat wave? Oddly inspiring, that.
letterblade: (the sex)
Or canon reference. Or much of anything except throwing three characters in a room together and seeing what happens. No particular spoilers for Utopia/Sound of Drums other than a particular character's existence. I don't normally write outside of canon, but I needed to get this out of my system, as the last few eps have been killing me with the kinky subtext.

The Jack in my head is quite insistent that this whole mess going on between his Doctor and Mr. Spoiler is clearly one big screwy love-hate psycho-ex thing, and has set himself on getting them to shag-and-get-it-over-with-already. (And I write to indulge him due to random insomnia.) And being Jack, if throwing himself into said shagging will help either party...

...why is this character insisting upon first person? Aiiii! Haven't done in ages!

A Brief Lecture On the Appeal of Constants (aka Mr. Spoiler does kinky math porn) )
letterblade: (snark)
I've been noticing a theme this season: celllular and genetic mutation, infection, and combination, with the attending concepts of disguise, alteration, propogation, and, ultimately, immortality or its opposite.

Instances (contains spoilers for episodes already aired and one casting spoiler for rest of season) )

I noticed this pre Human Nature, possibly even earlier than that, but the latest episode really cinched it. This sort of thematic unity makes me extremely happy, and gives me great hopes for them doing something really, really interesting with Jack and Mr. Spoiler in the end.

No particular conclusions drawn here, just observations.
letterblade: (ed)
Here is a long ramble, which I shall cut, about metadata for fic headers for this newest attempt to reboot my personal fic site. (Ha-ha, I said 'fic' twice.) Much more about the concept of 'what would you like to know about this story before deciding whether to read it?' than it is about actual fic, for those of you leery of the latter.

Library cards )

I AM GETTING MANIC. You couldn't tell? ^^;;

Those pesky subject/content tags... )

Oh holy fuck this is getting long.

Really what this boils down to is this:

I know I read pretty indiscriminately, if I know the writer's good, or it's a character/pairing that interests me, or whatever. I either ignore most warnings and ratings or take them as good signs. And sometimes I think that, ideally, reading fic on the internet would be like picking up a book--you don't know, opening, say, a Random Fantasy novel, whether it's going to have a sex scene, or a random lesbian couple floating about in the background, or a disembowling. Or, as Rusty keeps liking to prove, you don't know when you turn on the telly whether there's going to be random tentacular mpreg, or even just really pretty boykissing. There are some things I see people warning for--bad language, for example--that I just don't bother with at all. But it is a convention, and there are definitely, for some people, some things which they don't want looming up in their face if they click on a random link.

IMHO? I think the simple action of making most of the standard warnings linkable tags transforms them a little. There could be that little tag in the bottom left saying "m/m," sure. If it's there in the summary in all caps blazing away, it looks silly, it's obtrusive, it's got this subtext of "ohmigawd, guys, watch out for the boykissing!" (To which a hell of a lot of us say, "and we care why, exactly?" or "bring it on, bitch!") But if it's there in the corner, you can ignore it if you don't care, or you can look for it if you do. Or if you care in the other way, if you suddenly have a burning urge to pull up all the other fic with "m/m," you can do that to. This is why I keep calling them tags and not warnings; making them immediately clickable allows a positive reaction as well as a neutral or negative reaction.

OHMIGAWD, GUYS, WATCH OUT FOR THE GIRLRAMBLING.

But this has been interesting me all day!

What do you like to know before you read a fic?
letterblade: (writer)
...gacked from [livejournal.com profile] smithy161: set your iTunes/mediaplayer/playlist of choice on random and write a drabble based on the title of the first five songs that come up. Sticking with Whoverse and 100-word strict drabbles, as it's been a while since I've done the latter and I need the discipline.

"The Foggy Dew" (The Chieftains, with Sinead O'Connor)

Gwen and Ianto, a few days after End of Days, wistful gen )

"Spiel Mit Mir" (Rammstein; trans. "Play With Me")

Jack and A Certain Character, rampant third-season speculation, dark gen )

"Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)" (The Beatles)

Nine, Rose, and Jack, sometime before Boomtown, silliness with implications )

"Bratja" (Fullmetal Alchemist OST; trans. "Brothers")

Jack and that unnamed friend from his past, playing off that scene in Captain Jack Harkness, unexplicit slash )

"Butterfly" (Smile.dk)

Ten, Rose, and Sarah Jane, something that could have happened in School Reunion, silly gen )

...alsdkfjlsdjflj some of these were HARD. (Partially because iTunes was fucking with me. DDR?!) I think my ability to do much in the small space window is fading. I'm getting wordy in my old age.
letterblade: (jack)

Ohhhhh god oh god oh god. That was...both painful in the extreme and almost flowed.

While rewatching "They Keep Killing Suzie" on my getting-to-know-Torchwood-stupid-well quest, had a horrible realization, spawned out of my ever-growing interpretation of Gwen and something Suzie said.

Thus fic. Closest to stream-of-consciousness I've done in a while. Have to go with NC-17 for the rating for one bit of Owen-shagging. Making some extremely unpleasant--though obvious--assumptions about Suzie's father, so warnings for abuse subtext. Also assuming that Suzie knew about Jack's, ah, condition; some of her actions make more sense to me that way, even though she talks like she doesn't. (I hardly believe a word that comes out of that woman's mouth anyway.)

But--dragged myself through writing it, and on my general theory that anything this painful must be good somehow, I must inflict it upon all of you!

When she looks back at Jack, for a moment, he's still watching her, and there's something like need in his eyes, and for a moment she's happy, really happy, all she wants. )

gip AND fic

Apr. 1st, 2007 02:33 pm
letterblade: (jack)

Gipfic! Gipfic!

Ahem.

T: Point Alpha
F: Torchwood
R: NC-17
S: Jack and Ianto break things, mostly each other
P: 1/4-ish

This bit: starts during Countrycide, so gore warning, also spoilers. No sex yet. Will have to write the next scene or two for that. From there on, though, it's actually finished except for the last scene. Whee.

Ianto is uninjured, should be left until the scene is clear, if still in mobile action would be necessary to liberate him, should not be trusted with a weapon at the moment unless another combatant is absolutely necessary.

Ianto is a shaking mess, a ragged animal of a man. Terror point alpha, one of his old commanders in the Agency had called it. Delta is when fear instructs you, gamma is when fear threatens your operation and must be conquered, beta is when fear has won and drives you before it, alpha is when fear paralyzes you and removes your mind and that which makes you human.

This bit: also the corniest. Well, Chiball script. It happens. )
letterblade: (snark)
So when I was initially watching the series with Cyn, we skipped three episodes: Random Shoes, because it's apparently horrible, Small Worlds, because she deemed it mostly pointless, and Countrycide, because she deemed it also pointless and too randomly violent.

Of those, I have still not successfully seen Small Worlds (twice now I have started watching it while Cyn was away, and she's walked in at exactly the same point, about three minutes in. Ah well. At least I got to see naked Jack multiple times), and still not even attempted to see Random Shoes (I will at some point, esp. if I decide to write more Torchwood fic; after all, I have in the past voluntarily rewatched Threshold for fic writing purposes, when I realized I needed to know second-season Voyager inside out).

But last night I decided I was in the mood for something randomly violent, and watched Countrycide. And to my surprise, I actually quite liked it.

Long, mostly character-spelunking, contains inevitable spoilers and cannibalism. )

*pants* Um, that was long. I mean, it took me three hours to write that post. o.O

Okay, in conclusion, the more I interpret these characters, the more I like them. And I need to go do some more work on the Jack/Ianto that this episode, for whatever reason, made me desperate to write.
