Heads up!

So. You HP and Grindeldore people. Remember this?

It is now finished. Edited. Expanded. Enriched. Entitled.

Thirty-Five Owls, written by Letterblade, betaed by Mattador, soon to be translated into both Spanish and Russian, will be available when The Letterblade Library goes live. A site exclusive; a headliner, if you will.

Heads up!

(When will letterblade.net go live? My schedule for the next week or so is absolutely insane, especially as my housing situation has undergone another convulsion. Let us say for the sake of saying, however, that it will go live on April 8th. I will provide notification if I can no longer keep to that date; but rest assured that when it does go live, there will be spam.)

I kill me.

Gellert says: "The Voldemort brat wrote me declaring his oncoming glorious rule, soon to be Lord of All, Supreme Deathwump, etcetera, ad nauseum. I told him that casting too many Unforgivables at once shrinks one's wand. He'll go in circles for a while trying to figure that one out. Entertaining, I'm sure."

(Yes, I'm finally starting to edit that mess. And, dear lord, is it a mess. Might need a beta for this, if I even attempt to make it really balance and hold together, as opposed to just polishing off the prose and consistencies and timing and calling it done. >.> Also most of the eighties are missing, and logically shouldn't be, but there's not much more characterization to get through with in that decade. Blah. Decade-shaped holes are annoying.)

Ran out of friendslist due to reading most of it at 3 in the morning due to insomnia (there was a nightmare monster! I killed it!), so spent the rest of my breakfast updating my LJ memories, which I hadn't done in a few months...

In the Doctor Who section, there be assorted permutations of Master and Doctor and Jack, mostly with kink, some asexual.

In the Harry Potter section, there be a lot of Albus/Gellert.

In the Final Fantasy section, there be weird femmeslash.

And that be only the recent stuff!

For those who are new or who may not realize, I attempt to keep my LJ memories updated with every bit of every fic I've posted anywhere on LJ ever. A lot of times this means earlier drafts of things that were then tweaked and archived at Skyehawke (and I need to do an archive run too! as that's as out-of-date as my memories were fifteen minutes ago), but sometimes this also means more recent stuff that hasn't been archived yet, drabbles and ficlets I never bothered to archive, and random cookies and ficbits. Might be fun if you're bored.

Now to work. And to attempt to retrieve writerbrain from depression so I can finish Point Alpha/start Five Leaves/edit all that stuff I just memmed/work on my website/finish that Lulu/Auron/write the other werid FFX femmeslash fics banging about in there.

Phew. The pr0nkitten has a lot of work to do!

So in my dream last night, I was talking with somebody--likely [livejournal.com profile] cktraveler--about random aspects of the Potterverse, and somehow, in dream logic, somebody was asking us what we thought the general computational ability of the wizarding world was. [livejournal.com profile] cktraveler asked, "in integer or floating point?"

And I remember sitting for a moment in thought, and then jumping to my feet with sudden inspiration and pointing and yelping, "Maybe THAT'S what Arithmancy is!" (For this is a question we frequently ask--what the hell is Arithmancy?) Because I'd suddenly had this theory of Arithmancy being, at least in part, the fine art of building magical calculation machines, little complicated buzzing and levitating and clicking wizarding computers, with parts all Transfigured and Charmed to do their job, and probably, yes, able to do quite impressive floating point calculations.

And I had the image of the first Arithmancy class, with the mysterious Professor Vector--who remained of indeterminate gender, with short very dark brown hair, and had a teaching style somewhat like a laid-back and friendly Snape, even sometimes cracking a very dry joke. Prerequisites of at least an A in both Transfiguration and Charms, for making the stuff--though of course this was dream logic, as that's OWL grading and you start Arithmancy in third year if you opt for it... Students were in majority Ravenclaw, and also, surprisingly enough, in majority women, with a few Huffles and Gryffies scattered here and there, and in the back corner, two dark-haired, fifth-year Slytherin girls, very dykeish and seriously focused. (Srsly. In this dream Arithmancy was totally the dyke class.) At this point it was like I was plotting a ficlet, though I could not tell whether Hermione or Albus was the viewpoint character...

[livejournal.com profile] cktraveler, in the dream, disagreed strongly, in part because she didn't think something as specific as making computers would be a Hogwarts subject in its own right. But I thought, and still think upon waking, that this idea is so bloody cool that it makes me incoherent.

Sorry for the nonexistence, by the way. Have been going through an introvert phase, and also putting most of my non-work energies (and work is exhausting!) into prep work for Hallowed.

Speaking of which, character profile and backstory ficlet for Merope! Go! Bask in the misery!
letterblade: (riddle)
OMFG this has been so interesting! So long--far longer than it's supposed to be. (Then again, I do live with Cyn "You don't mind a twenty-page character sheet, right?" Wakefield.) But...wow. Obscenely proud of some parts of this.

Character profile for Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody.

Quote, from the friends and family section:

Best friends for Alastor means more comrads-in-arms, unless you count the fellow he did all his homework with back at Hogwarts, who he would never admit was Mundungus Fletcher--bad apple he turned out to be. He respects Dumbledore more than just about anyone else, but never really considered himself to know him; Caradoc Dearborn he'd gone drinking with since the first year of Auror training, at least until he had to give the eulogy over an empty grave; Edgar Bones, too, grand fellow, and Alastor had been the one to find the body slumped over his morning porridge with his monocle askew and his wife mangled beside him, and Alastor had been the one to close his eyes; Frank Longbottom, his cousin, closest thing he'd had to a brother until he went to St. Mungo's; Dorcas Meadowes, the only woman he ever met who was both beautiful and entirely sensible, and there was a time when he might have admitted thinking other things about her, too, but by the time Voldemort was done with her she was nothing but a pile of ash, sprinkled like dust round the words written in the dirt in her own blood, kill me, please, just kill me...

And context: this is a character profile for Hallowed Be Their Names, an RPG [livejournal.com profile] mllelaurel and I are starting up, inspired by Corpus Delicti, late nights, and characters eating our brains. I'm playing Alastor Moody, Merope Gaunt, and Albus Dumbledore at age 18. A delightful mix! XD So consider this game-pimping...still pulling together the last few introductory posts and technical details, but open to apps!

Blurb; cut for DH spoilers and AU-ness... )

AD/GG. No sex, just talking and kinky undertones. Despite the lack of Tom, this grew out of variously cycling contemplation of Tom's fear of death and comparing his psychology with others.

Are you afraid of Death? )

So here I am, twenty-four hours later, totally unslept and reasonably well-fed, mostly-naked and well-flirted-with, and, most important, bearing a more-or-less complete fic!

And that, at last, would be that.

Only one more entry in this to go. Once I'm done with that, will probably spend the rest of Blogathon spamming and catching up on your comments.

I think that in the final version there may be a few letters through the 80's, rather than jumping straight to OotP-era, but that is more character filler than anything else, solidifying their relationship. I want to be able to finish the basic structure of the fic during Blogathon per se, and I have a darn good chance of finishing that if I jump to the last few letters now.

I feel like I'm...slipping, a little. Partially the writing overload, partially the sleep-dep. Feel a little off the mark. But...bravely onwards! For GOATS! Revision later is my friend.

My fortune: "Tonight will be a lucky night." + in bed! BUT I'M NOT SLEEPING! and I don't have time to have sex. :/
