Dee-dee-dee-dee!

PSA #1, of the Take My Stuff variety: As a result of the previously mentioned bed, I now have copious spare bedding. Items are as follows:

- One fairly light, thin gray futon, appx. twin size. Minimal padding, quite old and worn. Price: please take it off my hands before I give up and curb it.

- One rather heavy, thicker white futon, also old and worn, also appx. twin size. A little more worn. The two together make a reasonable bed for those who like it hard. Price: please take it off my hands before I give up and curb it.

- One decent twin size mattress, a bit dirty around the edges but nothing scatalogical. Still in quite good shape, just a bit soft for my taste. About eight inches thick, will not fold. Price: $30 or barter or best offer. If nobody bites, will probably keep it as a guest bed, I just don't know where.

All of these could potentially come with sheets, as I have multidinous spare twin-size sheets, fitted sheets, and pillowcases, plus possibly a few spare blankets. (Sheets mostly greens and blues. Blankets pink.) Know anybody just moving in or looking to upgrade from their own battered futons? Twin-size mattress and most necessary bedding, fairly cheap!

Email me, arkady [dot] lizard [at] gmail [dot] com.

PSA #2, of the Event Is Happening variety: Escaflowne marathon reminder! Saturday the 25th, noon to midnight+. I will provide copious soup and there is good pizza nearby. House is off the 96 bus line. If bedding has not all disappeared, can offer crash space. Come have good anime!

PSA #3, of the Oh God I Need Recs variety: So, um, I need to get my butt back into therapy. Low-level-depression (the meds don't make it vanish, just more livable) + residual break-up trauma + the craving-but-fearing-intimacy cycle + creative dryup + work stress = not a happy Tory.

Anyone know any good therapists?

I would be looking for someone Boston-area, preferably in my network (Blue Cross Blue Shield, CareFirst), early evening availability a plus, bipolykinkypagangeek friendly, and...beyond that, I honestly don't know. I have no idea what would even work on me, given how much of a mess I am by now. Obvious someone who exudes the kind of caring and interest that enables people to open up, but also someone who can guide and help me through stuff...as much as it's nice to have somebody to ramble at for an hour a week, I have LiveJournal for that.

Mrr? Therapists are tricky things to find. I'm terrified of just calling names out of the book.

I'd recommend anyone from Crooked Tree Counseling in Central sq. (colleagues of mine, excellent folks) but they would not be in network for you. Might be worth giving a call to see if they can work something out with the fees.

This has nothing to do with your PSAs, but I just started watch Ouran High School Host Club. It heavily references Utena and parodies many shoujo and yaoi cliches.

Durnit, my old therapist really isn't in town anymore. She's running a theater in New Mexico. She probably would've been great for you -- I ended up with her when I had a creative burnout.

And I can't remember the other art therapist she suggested to me when she told me she was leaving. Dammit!

When I went looking this last time, I had a few key things I needed from a therapist: I needed someone who was comfortable dealing with my trauma history and my heavy-duty geek identification, and I'd decided that I wanted a therapist who was actually a lesbian. I lucked out and got one that was both a lesbian AND from a very similar background to mine (lower-middle-class Irish Catholic: even if she's 20 years older than me, she's had a lot of similar experiences.

It sounds like you have some very clear requirements, which makes the telephone interview MUCH easier. I hate the cold calling too, but it's someplace to start.

I hope you manage to find someone who takes insurance -- a lot of therapy folk don't these days.

PSA #2: I would love to come watch Escaflowne with you, if you'll have me. I still don't know if/how much of it I'd be able to see, because I haven't checked my work schedule yet, but it sounds like huge amounts of fun, and I'd love the chance to get together with you again.

PSA #3: I see Shauna Dowden, in Arlington, and would happily sing her praises to you for hours. I don't know if she has openings, especially in the evenings, but she should definitely be able to point you towards someone who is bipolykinkypagangeek etc friendly if you ask. She's a big part of the reason that I'm happy and sane and alive today. Her number is 617-855-2560, and if you decide to give her a call, you're welcome to tell her that Lisa Loren sent you.

Re: PSA #1, If nobody on your flist wants that stuff, you could try Freecycle (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FreecycleMedfordMA/) before tossing it.

Re: PSA #3, Sequoia swears by Amanda Curtis in Cambridge. She is very focused on the "everything goes back to your childhood and the way your parents screwed you up" approach, which I don't agree with in all cases, but since it sounds like you've already reached a similar conclusion it's worth a mention. She definitely made a huge difference for Sequoia.

I've had one session with my new therapist by calling South Shore Mental Health. (Look, we're both getting involved in therapy!)

I don't know what I'm doing on the 25th yet. Can sleep on floor without much more than enough blankets if need be.

re: PSA #3 - Dr. Wendy Rosen in Cambridge, near Central Square, is good people. I don't know if she takes insurance, though.

btw - would you like some cobbler? :D (as of now, Oct 19th, there is plenty still leftover and I want to share it with people.)
