MINE. MY OWN. MY PRECIOUSSSSSSSSSSS.
Jun. 21st, 2008 06:13 pmI am posting from a new computer!

Yes, that is my pudgy back, my room in the house of
illuminaut, and a very fuzzy webcam-in-the-mirror photo of my NEW BABY. (There is not actually a bite out of the top of the monitor. Is light artifact.)
It is a real, live, bought-new-in-an-Apple-store MacBook, the white superdrive model. It is sweet and tiny and awesome and I call it LUX. (At least for now, but my temporary unofficial computer names tend to stick. My oooold iMac was Bluberry, uncreatively. My Frankensteined G4, which will probably continue to be a primary box for a while until I lazily get everything transferred here, was Imaginary Living Box.)
Have I mentioned how much I love having a real job, that, like, pays me, so I can do things like GOING AND BUYING A COMPUTER BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE IT?
And it's super-light. I can, like, take it everywhere!
I also picked up a copy of iWork, mostly for Pages, so I can have a decent, powerful, compatible primary word processor for, like, THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE.
*goes off to purr all over the desktop spaces and type in all the Steve/Tony smut she's been writing on the train*
OH, AND PLAY WITH GARAGE BAND, WHICH I'VE BEEN CURIOUS ABOUT FOR AGES BUT NEVER HAD. Wheeeeeeeeeeee!

Date: Jun. 22nd, 2008 05:27 pm (UTC)The old G4 has had the following components replaced: hard drives, RAM, video card, audio card, optical drives, CPU. I think that's pretty Frankensteined! In terms of performance, with all those replacements, it was decently state-of-the-art in '03 or '04, even though it's eight years old. But still. Time for something about two and a half times as fast and portable!
