Courtesy of Planned Parenthood's Rapid HIV Testing, I have opened the Schrödinger's Cat-Box in my bloodstream. I am, in fact, clean. Phew.

(Yeah, I shelled out eighty bucks for the convenience of a half-hour finger-prick test. The last time I went to get tested, when it took a few weeks to process, they lost the results and never called me. The time before, the entire medical staff of Bennington College could not get blood out of my veins. Rapid testing was so worth it.)

This was a recently-developed assay that can be done with a single drop of blood in about half an hour. Literally, they prick your finger, you wait. I assume the test kit itself is fucking expensive. Well, and this is the US.

I got the rapid test at Planned Parenthood for $55. $80 seems a bit steep.

I definitely need the rapid test though. I can't deal with sitting and waiting for weeks. 20 minutes was hard enough

In the future you might want to know that you can schedule an HIV finger test for free at Fenway Community Health. Different people than the Walk-in Clinic. But it's a state grant that covers it.

Good for you for dong the test the best way you knew how, and thank heaven you got good results. Scary stuff, definitely worth the quick answers.

It must have taken a lot of guts to walk in there and do it, especially since it sounds like you did it on your own.
