State of the Tory

Possessions: So, according to Cyn, I'm "allowed" to get at my stuff when I can move it out for good (which I will be doing next Saturday with a U-Haul), but I'm "not allowed" in the actual apartment or basement. (In quotations because this is bullshit; as far as I know, my name's still on the lease, and Cyn's just being a whiny brat; the only reason I'm putting up with it is for the sake of avoiding greater social rifts like restraining orders.) So if one or two willing strong people would be willing to carry crap out next Saturday, that would be lovely; this is, of course, very volunteer, though I could attempt compensation in my small ways.

Housing: So, according to the landlady here, I'm going to have to find someplace else to sleep *until* the bathroom is finished, for assorted legal reasons and such. Annoyingness. With luck, I have secured a futon nearby for the next little while, but if that falls through, I may be making couch-surfing calls again. Epic meh.

Emotions: My previous state of intense rage has slowly boiled down. The major change is that, at this point, I don't care about Cyn's well-being or emotional state. I'm certainly not going to, y'know, go out of my way to hurt her or deliberately make her life difficult, but neither am I going to make the slightest effort to respect her comfort levels unless it's entirely self-interested. (This is, for me, much more of a big deal than it sounds. I have reached this state of not giving a shit about somebody's feelings...once, mmmmmaybe twice in my life before? Abusive ex, crazy mother. On that level.)

Job Hunt: Interview tomorrow. Had another few nibbles on my Craigslist ads. Bit of an upswing. Pity I took a full-time week-long gig, so starting Tuesday, I won't be around weekday hours to take care of it. (That gig ends Monday, a week from tomorrow. I just needed the cash.)

I can seriously empathize on the possessions front. Half of my stuff is mouldering in a storage unit in Tennessee that I'm still paying for (for the ex, no less) but will most likely never see again, and the rest (including ALL MY BOOKS save a very few) are in the garage of the house I was living in (in the basement) in California, where my ex still lives. And the people who rent the house, ex's gf and her husband, are getting a divorce and I don't know if either of them are keeping the house or what the timing is or what.

In other words, yeh. Much empathy and good mojo vibes at you.

Especially if your name is on the lease, if shit gets wonky, don't forget that you're well within your rights to call the cops.

On that note, get in contact with your erstwhile landlord and let him/her know the score, and find a way to remove your name from the lease. With your name on the lease, I'm pretty damn sure it was illegal for you to be forced from the premises. Cover your bases -- it's clear that Cyn is not reasonable, and is just as likely to incur expenses in the apartment for which you would be jointly responsible (then bolt) as she is to throw you into the streets in mid-February. You have absolutely no reason to trust her -- don't. Get your name off anything legal and make sure the landlord knows when you ceased to be a resident there.
