Hunger at first whiff is...a greenhouse. Guess that must be the orange blossoms. A little sharp and thin though, and now something dark and sickeningly sweet is coming through--narcissus, must be. There's a bit of vanilla, that's nicer now. And what do I think now that it's come together? Not entirely sure. It's definitely mouth-watering in its own way, full of raw want, but still a little sickly. I can see how it would be nice, but it has no particular appeal to me. Especially since it fades to something thin and acrid.

Loviatar I tested quite a bit back but never wrote a review of, but I remember liking it. It made me want to get down on my knees and do things, which I suppose would be the point of it.

Crossroads in the vial was this fresh, fascinating floral with edge and guts, but the moment it hit my skin it turned into soap, and just aged and faded into stronger soap. Gah. I'm beginning to think the non-rose florals, at least the lighter ones, really aren't for me. Which kinda spells doom for my lilac quest.

Hell's Belle smells like delightfully poisonous green stuff in the imp, and when it hits my skin it turns into a greenhouse...on acid. In the best possibly way. I guess orange just makes me think greenhouse? But no, this is really kicking my ass so far--sweet but not soapy or sickly, green with an edge, slightly wet and spicy. I liiike. Keeper!

Talvikuu--aside from the fact that it took me forever to pry the decant vial open--smells startlingly green and alive in the imp, and gets piney the moment it hits my skin. Dark, icy pine, though not as dark as I expected--but there's something a little off, a little chemical-ish. Though it's nicely green enough that I probably won't resell it.

R'lyeh was a case of read too much Lovecraft, could...not...resist... but for such a thing, it came out much better than I expected. Dark aquatic it is, so dark it's almost spicy one second, sweet the next. I expected ozone-dead-cricket, but there was nothing of the sort, just slightly alien aquatic depths--nay, perhaps even cyclopean depths. Mmm, general goodness. Though I do sortof question whether other people would like it enough to make it worth wearing out often, it's still fantastically neat.

Blood Amber, which I'm testing now just because I think it might be fun, is bright, searing red. Stunningly red. But, well, that doesn't tell me how it smells. So strong a red you can even see it on my skin. In the vial it's acrid cough syrup, and on my skin it's...surprisingly faint. Like a very faint echo of dragon's blood, but not much else. I wonder if this is what happens when an oil gets too old? I can't really smell anything.

Delight and Venice I'm not going to write out full reviews for, because it's taking me waaay too long to wade through these imps, but I LOVE them BOTH. Lively and alluring and complicated and flowering without being soapy or musty, SO much goodness.

The Lion in the vial smells like an animal in the sun. Literally musky, warm, living fur. On my skin the spice comes out almost immediately, and then mellows back into a more animal scent. This is brown and gold and sun-drenched and natural and oh, my, god, it's Jasper. Because, yes, I'm constantly keeping a tally of which novel character might come to mind due to a scent. XP

Euphrosyne was pleasant enough in the vial, though not my thing, but on my skin it did the soapy floral thing. Merf.

Greed was, wow, SO much like the description. Base, earthly, and laced with gold. Very well put-together and compelling scent, so I'll probably keep it around even though it isn't the sort of thing I'd wear often myself.

Snake Oil is soooooo not my thing, eegh. Gets nasty on my skin.

Ode on Melancholy is kinda nice, and is the only light floral that's held together on my skin, probably due to all the dry, pale, non-floral notes. Wispy and sweet and hauntingly skeletal, without being in the least grandmotherly.

Dublin in the imp was one big wow of damp mossy forest, but what did it do? It turned into soap! AUGH! And this was one of the one's I'd been hunting after for ages.

Wolfsbane is another one of those lovely green Rappacini's Garden affairs, but woodier and muskier than Mantis or Belladonna--kinda like a mutant hybrid of them and Loup Garou. But I like it; it's another one of those scents that's animal almost to the point of being unpleasant, but not quite.

Xiuhtecuhtli is as undescribable as it is unpronouncable, kinda fresh and raw and fruity, but I LIKE it, oh yessss.

Kabuki, however, is just too much cherry at first--we're talking cough syrup levels here--and then the anise comes through, and I have never been a licorice person. It's quite nice in its way, just so not me.

Whip is much more rose than leather to me, on my skin, but still exactly the kinky smexy joy it should be.

Fallen...well, this is my chance to get a sniff at a fresh, untouched vial of one of my very first BPAL loves, and a scent that has caused me much trepidation since. For a moment it seemed to be doing the sandelwood soap thing again...but then, yes, it became something deep and proud and sweet and beautiful. Not quite what I remember, but my nose may be evolving. I just hope this imp doesn't suffer the same problems as the last...I'll take precautions.

And finally--teh Holiday Moon--on my skin, rather than just in the bottle--(Of course first I have the problem of finding an untouched bit of skin. I feel like a perfume crazy quilt.)--is MISTY MAGIC TEA LOOOOOOOOVE. It dries a little as it goes, becomes airier and a little edgier, but still good, oh yes, and then the tea comes out nice and strong and soothing. Will be a work perfume until it runs out.

Also, meme, y0!
