letterblade: (me)
So I LARPed a bit on Sunday. It was sedate, but enjoyable--laying way for much Plot To Come. My character got salmonella and is at the moment passed out on a bench in a monastery. But better things happened than that. Really!

But [livejournal.com profile] boblovesmusic got a picture of us in full regalia.

HUGE PIC OF DOOM.

From left to right: Backdraft as Thanté or Lohi or whatever we might call her (I'll get this girl a livejournal soon, don't worry), me as Tarsius, [livejournal.com profile] chiarahaswings as Saben or Tsabeni, and [livejournal.com profile] nevacaruso as Jade.

Various important or semi-important stuff I've been meaning to post for ages:

Courses, revised:

Bruno Schulz, I.B. Singer, and Danilo Kis (taught by Margeurite Feitlowitz). One of her advanced seminars. Schuuuuuuuuuuuuuulz! And my favorite lit teacher! Happytime.

The Lyric Essay (taught by Mark Wunderlich). A course on nonfiction prose-poems and other genre-bending delights. I personally want to play with the concept of the lyric semi-analytical essay, particularly since I wrote one for Margeurite last term without really knowing what it was. Fun stuff, at any rate.

Embodying Text (taught by Kirk Jackson). An acting course on speaking Shakespeare. Yes, acting. I'm insane. But voice-focused acting, which is especially good for my seniorprojectodoom.

Music 1907-1913 (taught by Allen Shawn). One of my favorite periods of music. STRAVINSKY RITE OF SPRING YES NOW. Fun fact about Allen's brother. Wally Shawn? Inconceivable! (And on Star Trek.)

Also starting to pull together some practical stuff for the seniorprojectodoom, including my very own study carrel in the liberry (C-21, if anyone Benningtonian is rabidly curious), trying to find a supervisor, etc.

Got my job again. Either three or four shifts a week. Yay income!

Personal life, revised:

I am actually back together with Backdraft. Very long story. Short version being that though our relationship was messed up, our breaking up that way was even more so. But, with my finally working up the guts to take her home (there were various obstructions), I realized rather belatedly that my mother is quite homophobic. And here I thought she was liberal.

Should go update LJ profile again. Been late with that.

Fandom life, revised:

I will not guarantee much fandom involvement, and that's for two reasons: what time and energy I have is spread out between quite a few fandae, and I have to carry a full course schedule while doing work on the seniorprojectodoom in my Copious Spare Time. But I was doing some of my fanwriting just yesterday (yet more tweaking on the infamous OLDfic), and I have every hope to do a final pass at the DMVs (more to make sure I didn't make any stupid grammar mistakes during that crazy week before Mysterium than anything else) before Revelation comes out and they roll over and die.

I wish I could say that I've kept up with my pledges and pledgers for [livejournal.com profile] fan_the_vote, but I haven't and probably won't. I hate standing people up and feel like a total flake, but I am spread very thin these days. I feel like I've mostly left the world of fandom, really, though I'll still be keeping this journal for other fun LJ-ish purposes, and I will of course post more fic and other fannish stuff as it comes, but I don't really feel present in the communities anymore--barely even MC--and I'm unlikely to have the time to become very present again before I graduate. And god only knows where I'll be after I leave school.

In light of that, if you wish to unfriend me, do. I'm hardly leaving fandom. More like admitting that I've faded as much as I already have.

I promise too much. It's a bad habit of mine, and I'm trying to fix it, but I have too much unfinished already to manage. I may manage to finish your pet WIP, I may not. Mostly I'm trying to finish the ones which are still chewing on my ears, like the OLDfic, the DMVs and associated pieces, Lexicon, Talvi-Asumi, an Utena piece or two, a few short things. If any of you are interested in the probable fate of a particular piece, or would like a more comprehensive list of what I hope to finish and what is likely to languish forever, let me know.
