The serpents, usually called Nagas and Naginis, have a triple mission on the terrestrial plain: in the first place, they forbid access to spiritual truths to those who are not worthy of them; in the second place, they confer them upon those who deserve them, and, finally, they strive to prevent these truths from going beyond the material plain.
