the Hammerklavier is god
Mar. 13th, 2002 10:22 pmyes, i just relistened to Beethoven's Hammerklavier sonata. it is tremendous. i cannot describe it. how often do i tear up to music? maybe never, aside from this. i listened to it, carefully, all the way through, with score. god. wow.
i was actually led to listen to it for the first time by Robert Anton Wilson. some sections in the Schrödinger's Cat trilogy were utterly in awe of it and instilled in me a deep curiosity.
my mood listing refers to my attitude towards this music, but it is rather an understatement.
the AMV reviews of the day...i just downloaded three fairly good new Evangelion AMVs, all of which are spoilerific to End of Evangelion, or at least will not make sense unless you've seen EoE. i mostly just remember titles; they're all on AMV.org.
Numb. a stark, well constructed dual character portrait of Shinji and Asuka. not much more to say. yum.
The End of Me. Justin Emerson, the ErMaC guy (and one of my AMVs deities; for the record, my other main ones are Fluxmeister and whoever did Right Now and KDMD), claims this is his second best work, next to Soul of an Angel. personally i prefer either of his two Closer to God vids to this one, but it's still pretty good. another Shinji and Asuka deal, quite intense. why have i been watching all these Shinji-and-Asuka focused AMVs when i personally don't think much of the couple? er, 'cause people make them? and they're good? anyhoot....
Fight Club. okay. see Eva. see Fight Club. watch this vid and laugh your ass off.

Take the High Yield Killing Method Test Now!!
i think Achenar's proud of me. i took Yet Another Random Net Quiz, and the results amused me enough that i decided to actually post them here, which i don't normally feel like doing. heh. feel the wrath of my whims.
i got into the class i wanted. now i'm taking 16 credits, full courseload. yay.
i have decided that when i get my fiddle-playing back into shape, i'm going to learn to play Ask the Owl, to which my roommate said "yosh!"
i bought very spiffy jewelry with opals. expensive. i'll wear it to my sister's wedding. that's my excuse.
i've noticed that in the past couple of days my life has been unusually music-focused, which is especially odd since i recently decided that writing is the center of my life. ah, the ins-and-outs of meanings of life. go figure.
i say, deliver me from Swedish furniture!

i am indeed planning to listen to more tonight. especially the last one. yay for on-campus music libraries.
and i do indeed play the fiddle. i'm horribly out of shape and need to get back into shape, especially given that theoretically i'm going to be playing in a band. what kind of band, i hear you cry? (*crickets chirp*) a punk band. bwahahahaha. i want to figure out a way to amplify it and run it through a distortion pedal.
