I have found a model for my young Alastor.

Ioan Gruffudd. With curly hair. And skinnier and a bit less movie-star-esque, but that's not going to happen in screencaps.

In other words, Horatio Hornblower. Ph34r the cross-genre sporkage. Especially since Christian Coulson is going to be in the next one. *sporks*

(I sadly know nothing of the Hornblower world. I just looked at Tinderblast's icons. And I've been considering him as a model for a while, actually.)

Especially in the books, in which he is a complete math nerd and insane and thinks constantly about how his lieutenant is much buffer and manlier than him, and about how much the female love interest looks like a boy, and doesn't talk to anyone for months at a time.

You forgot to add about how he thinks all his subordinates are completely lacking in better judgment, on the grounds that they actually like him and no sane person could do that. Also, how he thinks of his lieutenant in more affectionate terms than he does the afore-mentioned female love interest, except in the chronologically very last book and the chronologically very last story.

Umm... sometime soon we hope. At afterlightning, the current repository for roleplay related fics. It's very AU, though, since it deals with Moody taking the Dark Mark...

(In our normal storyline, Tom does offer it to Alastor but he chickens out... but in the normal story line the three of them are all insane to some degree at the end of GOF. So we're playing around in AU to heal our souls...)
