Because I was too busy freaking out about something. That something has now been confirmed.

I will have to move out of my current place by August.

*headdesk*

I have warning, and it's not for reasons that have anything to do with me (i.e. this was not a "we hate you and your dirty dishes and your LARP-printing on the dining room table go away.") And I will be trolling the Craigslist and such. But I figured I'd post this now, in case anybody has a geek house in need of a roommate around that time.

It's remotely possible that by then I'll be looking for more roommates in Central Square Cambridge, but I don't think you want to live there.

Can't offer you a place unless you really want to come to Florida, but I'm sending good wishes and thoughts your way in hopes that that will help you find somewhere.

Why don't I want to live there? (Well, aside from the fact that it's Central Square and I'd have to keep my car under my bed.)

Even if I did want to leave the Boston area, you'd shortly be rooming with a small pile of ash as I spontaneously combusted from the heat. I am suuuuch a New England plant. But thanks!

Experience so far is that no one but me seems to *want* to live in Central Square. Also the space thing.

I think [livejournal.com profile] rigel might have an opening...

Augh. Fingers crossed for you.

Unfortunately, our own house is already full up with geeks. [livejournal.com profile] rigel was the only one I'd heard of who might have room, but I'll let you know if I hear about any other possibilities.

*hug* Good luck!

Fine point, sir. I keep forgetting that.

Well, my current roommate probably will, but I'm betting you'd rather not move to NW Minnesota... :-)

As Neva mentioned, our house is full sadly. However in all likelihood the house I'm moving out of in Brighton will have room in August, since at that point the dear Rachel Wentz will be moving out to live with her boyfriend in Central Square.

Here's a link to Sasha's ad on Facebook, which contains details on...pretty much everything you'd need to know: http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=351720204107

If you're curious as to why I'm leaving: 1.) it's a bit off the beaten path (roughly an hour and 15 from Somerville by train, and an hour from Harvard Square by bus)...and I don't really care for Brighton personally cuz there are a lot of frat boy/sorority girl types, and other than that I'm just not particularly attached to anything here (though there is lots to do and lots of places to eat around, so that is good), 2.) it's directly on a very busy street (Commonwealth Avenue), and 3.) I've had a falling out with Sasha and she lives here so that's just awkward.

Don't let that scare you away, though....there are a lot of great things about the place too (for one, it's HUGE...7 bedrooms and 2 large floors all to ourselves! ^_^). And it is definitely a geek house (8-10 of them, as a matter of fact.) Also very queer/poly/kinky and Pagan-friendly.

So yeah, please read the ad! Then let me know if you might be interested, and I'll pass that along and we'll arrange for you to visit and check out the place and meet the people you don't already know. :)

BTW there is free parking in the back lot, and we're only a 30 minute drive from Camberville...and more like 20 minutes from Belmont.

Things Sasha's note doesn't mention:

1.) In addition to being a block away from the Washington Street stop on the green B line, it is also roughly 3/4 mile from the Washington Square stop on the green C line, the Beaconsfield stop on the green D line, and the following bus routes: #57, #64, #65, #66, and #86. The 66 and 86 are the ones that can take you to Harvard Square in 50 minutes-an hour and 5 minutes depending on traffic and weather etc. The 57 goes to Watertown, the 64 to Central and the Garment District (though it only comes once an hour and only at certain times of day so I wouldn't rely on that), the 65 goes to the Longwood Medical Area and Kenmore via Brookline, and the 66 also goes to Jamaica Plain (via Brookline), and the 86 also goes to Chestnut Hill and at the other end to Sullivan Square in Somerville.

2.) It's near the following areas: Allston Village, Brighton Village, Oak Square in Brighton, Chestnut Hill, BU, BC, Washington Square in Brookline, Brookline Village, and pseudo-near (half hour by bus) from the Longwood Medical Area and Kenmore

3.) You can completely ignore what she says about how many people we're looking for and when the openings are. Things have changed since she posted that, and may continue to change. We currently DO have exactly one opening in August, and this will change only if somebody else beats you to it. ;-)

If you've got one or two friends also in need of a place, and don't mind living in Worcester, then I've got an apartment I can rent you.

It runs $1050 in total... Which is pretty cheap split three ways, less so split two.

And you get the bonus of me living upstairs and bein' your landlord!

Sorry for the comment spamming, but I should also note that a future housemate of Annie & Cidney & Holly & I at our new place in Porter Square will be away for two months in the summer (July and August). So if you're in a bind and need to buy some time while you continue to look for a permanent solution, there's the possibility of subletting with us for one or both of those months. We'd love to have you! :)

Some notes on the place...

~5-bedrooms. You'd have a room to yourself during that time.
~GREAT location a block away from the Porter Square Shopping Center, off Elm Street. A 5-minute walk to Porter Station and a 10-minute walk to Davis.
~Street parking available with Somerville resident sticker (we could acquire one for you).
~Coin-op laundry in the basement.
~There is no dishwasher now, but we plan on purchasing one before July.
~We might get a cat. (We just have to double-check with the landlord.)
~4 friendly and geeky housemates. ^_^
~2 porches (front and back).
~2 floors (3 bedrooms on the top floor and 2 bedrooms and the living room and kitchen on the bottom).
~Cidney has a Playstation, which also works as a DVD player. Speaking of tech, we'll have a TV and will get internet, to which you'd be expected to contribute.
~Rent=$550/person/month. We have been told by previous tenants that utilities (not including internet) average around $50/person/month, so expect to pay around $615/month total for everything (rent, internet, heat and electric).
~We plan to live quasi-communally. Make of that what you will...we haven't hashed out all the details yet. ;-) Our goal though is to divide up chores and grocery-purchasing among us in a way that seems equal and fair, and to have a healthy and pleasant balance of house community and personal space. There will likely be regular house meetings to work out logistics and establish a sense of community.

I second this, and wish we could offer more :)

Also, man, this reminded me of how much I'm looking forward to the potential awesome of this housing...

Honestly, Mary (the girl who will be away in the summer) and I don't mind sharing a room...so if you have trouble finding a place and need to stay past August, don't worry we won't kick you out. I do want to make it clear, though, that this is not a permanent solution. Mary and I can bunk up in one of the larger bedrooms until you find another place to live, but we did pick a 5-bedroom so that we could all have our own space, so you would need to continue to look. Of course it's up to you whether you'd be comfortable with a short-term arrangement, or if you'd rather just find something permanent from the get-go. But I just wanted to throw it out there that the option is available to you should you decide to take us up on it.

Again, good luck. This being my 3rd move in the past 2 years, I understand how this can be stressful. *hugs*
