Fired.

In a way, this is a relief. My job was Not Good. I was vaguely headed in the direction of starting to search for something else that I could switch to after quitting. Buttloads of responsibility + passive-aggressive co-workers who kept me from performing said responsibilities + nine-hour days with no breaks with said passive-aggressive co-workers = Metric Tons 'o' Blargh.

On the other hand, I was kind of hoping to, y'know, still be getting a paycheck and not running out of money when hunting. On the third hand, no work means more time and energy to hunt.

There's a nonzero chance I'll get unemployment from this one though, which is good. Was there for more than three months; was fired, so supposedly it won't kick in for six weeks if I do get it, but I still might. So if I do, that's six weeks of scrounging up short-term temp jobs and modelling work. Doable. (If any of you know anybody Boston-area who'd be willing to pay decent money to photograph or do other things with a busty redhead, give me a holler.)

If I do get unemployment, I can surf on that for a while and looking for something long-term at my leisure. If not, I'll gig it until after Intercon (as having to take a day off for a convention in Delaware and recovering from a convention in Delaware both do not mesh well with a first week at a new job) and be looking for something permanent starting ASAP.

I no longer consider long-term temping an option unless it involves serious benefits. Jobs without benefits are also not an option, unless they pay seriously enough for me to buy my own health care and still stay out of the poorhouse.

Eh, now I'm just rambling. Honestly, the only reason I'm as stressed about this as I am is that I just had to drop $500 in parking tickets and fees to get my beloved Hieronymous released from imprisonment by boot. (That, of course, being why I was fired--couldn't get to work, as it's out in Woburn and not near anything civilized like a train.) Gurgle.
