Non-fandom people: Do my fandom posts--the random squees and rambles, the fic, and so forth--annoy you or put you off my journal?

Fandom people: Do my non-fandom posts--the (admittedly rare) RL updates, personal rambles, angst, and so forth--annoy you or put you off my journal?

I am, for the first time, seriously considering splitting this journal into two: one (this one; it's too connected not to) mainly public for fic and so I can be as much of a giggly fantwat as I want without bothering the grown-ups; and one (a new account), probably at least half f-locked or filtered, for the RL and personal posts, which would also contain all the things I currently filter in this journal (sex, magic, angst, original fiction), so those here for my fic don't have to deal with them.

It would up the posting load (although in the end that's a good thing; I'm not updating nearly consistently enough), and I've always liked having just one journal, but...it's beginning to feel necessary.

I don't find either annoying or off-putting (and I think I count as both, because our fandoms intersect but are more of a Venn diagram than a complete meeting). If you split the journal, I'd like to read both of them.

I find it nice to know some of what is happening to you in rl and love your fandom posts both. :)

You do count as both. :) (And, heck, with the number and variety of fandoms I'm currently in, everyone's a Venn diagram. ;)) And thank you.

no problems here with either flavor of posting.

That's...very good to know. You were one of the people who I thought might be put off by my fantwat side. Thank you.

oh! no worries. the only things i would have a problem with are forcing me to watch something fannish if i express dislike/disinterest (which you haven't done, and neither has [livejournal.com profile] yunatwilight, so) in that particular thing, or saying "you have to read every single thing i post in full or we aren't really friends!" which is silly, and most of your fannish posts are interesting anyway.

The fandom posts don't bug me. I usually skim them, but I'm a heck of a lot more likely to read them than some of the posts by other people I read. You, unlike some, actually know how to string two sentences together. I try to care about the lives of people who can't, but it's tough.

I'd rather see the two journals remain one. If someone has difficult ignoring the posts they aren't interested in, well, that's a problem they should work on - not something you need to concern yourself about too much.

Yiiii, no, I wouldn't force you to watch anything. *hugs* Have had too many bad experiences with people saying I'm too pushy with my fandoms. And I know most people don't read most of my posts. :)

I don't know what I count as, but I like both, and hope to be allowed to continue to read both.

I pretty much count you as both. :) And you're allowed to read anything you want, of course!

Yay!

(Though it's not 'of course.' I'm big on not taking things for granted, and on people having the option of privacy and boundaries and good stuff like that. Reading what you write is a privilege - one I will be happy to go on enjoying.)

I read everything you write. Sometimes it's "eventually," but I do.

Not that I've been reading the flist on my fannish journal lately, but I personally don't care whether people separate or not (although I was myself more comfortable separating, definitely).

I don't think separating's necessary, myself.

If you do, though, I'd love to be on both.

It kinda is 'of course' for me--with the exception of my basic preference to friendslock intensely personal posts or potentially publishable material, I don't have any privacy issues with my journal in the least. The filters are there for the comfort of my readers, not me. :)

No splitting! I can't friend another journal! I'm full! Full like after Christmas lunch! Anyway, a mix of fandom and RL is better, it makes things more balanced.

Bernice, have I mentioned recently that you rock my ass? XD Don't worry, no splitting anymore. And you're reminding me that I need to eat something sometime today...

Whoa, how have you been? I seem to recall your journal going really quiet for a while, hence the pruning (sorry!), but...what's up?

From the response I've gotten, I don't think it is either. :) And thanks!

Ha, no worries. Hadn't noticed and don't take it personally. I was not involved in fannish things for a couple years (which was why I added you originally, I think) due to a muchness of school and work and am just getting back. That may change when I start grad school, though, as seems likely to happen next fall. Not really reading the carmarthen flist very regularly at the moment, though.

I am definitely unfannish. It seems, though, that you mostly put that sort of thing behind a cut, which makes it very easy to scroll past. So, no strong opinion. If you did split the journal, I wouldn't sign up for the fannish one, but that would be about fannishness, not about you.
