letterblade: (the sex)
[personal profile] letterblade
This is a pretty much irrelevant thought (though all my journal is irrelevant these days), but...I have abruptly fully realized what my ideal porn site would be.

Take a high-quality-photograph often-outdoors naturalistic nude site like Domai. Add more than a dash of kink, vicious yet tasteful, though still do as Domai does and eschew stupid taglines, anything spelled with a Z that shouldn't be, and the word "cum." Also retain the lack of targeting--this isn't a site for straight this or gay that, it's just a site full of pretty people.

And make all the models men.

And not just any men either. For, verily, there are four things that turn the Tory off a member of the male species:
- GymoTanoRexia. Y'know, the Look At Me, I'm So Brown And Buff And I Got All Of It From Machines thing. See most mainstream male models. Yeegh. Highly unsexy.
- Excess body fat. For some reason, on "femdom" sites, the subs are often big fat men. Again, yeegh. (Yes, I realize I have minor but present fat-is-not-sexy body image issues left over from early exposure to ballet, but they're there; plus men don't carry weight nearly as well as most women.) Then again, the point of that kind of site is the "dominatrix," not the man she's tormenting; he's just a prop, and from what I've seen the porn industry does not put much effort into finding aesthetically pleasing props.
- Excess body hair. This is a much lesser issue--certainly in person personality and looks will overcome any thought of fur--but all other things being equal, an uninterrupted view of the lines of the body is nice.
- The American srain of testosterone poisoning, with attendant homophobia, exploitative misogyny, beer and football addiction, etcetera. Underneath that, though, there's this pervasive mindset that, in any media, women are there to be pretty and men are there to have (overbearing, unpleasant, stupid, obnoxious) personality. Which means that women can't have personality and men can't be pretty. Yeeeeeeeeeegh.

Y'see, I have no problem with women being exploited, as long as--and both of these are vital--the exploitation is consensual and the men are consensually exploited as well. Look at Firefly. Joss understands this, for he is The Joss and he is Good. There is Zoe. There is Inara. There are incredibly hot women with loads of personality, and he'll film them naked in bed, or taking a sponge bath, because they're beautiful people and he wants to share this with us. And then there is Simon, and he will--completely gratutiously!--give him a shirtless scene in Objects in Space, because (and if you listen to the commentary--very good commentary on that ep!--he'll say approximately this) he's a beautiful person and he wants to share this with us. And there is shirtless Simon, and it is good. And let's not even get into the naked Mal.

If only Joss made porn. Sigh.

At any rate, digression aside, I know, despite much evidence to the contrary, that these beautiful and evasive creatures exist. You see them on the Red Line and in the Diesel. Or on Joss Whedon's shows. Or breakdancing in front of Fanueil Hall. Or in Japanese pop music. Or at Bennington College. Or when you get Chinese food delivered. (On Christmas we got this beautiful young fellow with glasses and skinny pants and everything and dear lord was I tempted to drop the blanket I was wearing.) You just never seem to see them in porn. Or if you do, it's very rarely, and they're labeled as "twinks," a word I am growing to loathe. Like you can't be attractive (to me) and Be A Man, you have to Be A Twink instead. And, dude, to reference Firefly yet again, I find Mal Reynolds devastatingly hot. Or Kunzite (*points at icon*), to make the currently inevitable PGSM reference. (And, yes, I know I'm referring to fictional characters in this case, but it's not like this is anime; there are men that hot inside the costumes as well.) And pity the fool who calls either of them a twink within their earshot.

Back to thoughts of my Ideal Porn Site: Boy on boy? Fuck yes, if the models are willing. But finding ones who are would be even harder than finding models in the first place. After all--and this may be only my experience within my subcultures--men seem to be much less sexual beings than women, less sex drive, less willingness to experiment. The opposite of what we're raised to expect, but true in every social group I've been in.

Also: Multiracial? Fuck yes. I've seen a lot of beautiful non-white men--probably more than I've seen beautiful white men. And let's not even go into my thing for Japanese boys at the moment.

Mergh.

After rather a few searches through JanesGuide and various linkspages--though by no means exhaustive--I have not yet found this site, and am thinking that it doesn't exist. Again, mergh. I am increasingly of the opinion that I'll just fucking well have to make it myself. Give me a camera and a few willing and comely lads and let me revolutionize the world of smut! Full speed ahead for aesthetic gender equality! *brandishes nearest object on hand, a blue plushie mouse thingie*

Not that I know anything about photography, or how to find models, or anything. And not that I have the time, or the studio. Mergh.

*collapses on keyboard rest*

And note, though I love and appreciate women as much as men, if I did actually work up the guts and resources and time to do this, it would be all men. Why? Because this does exist with women. It's hard to find, and there may not be much of it, but it does, and there's more of it with every geeky amateur or every budding lesbian photographer (like my partner, for one). But with men? Haven't found it, and what one cannot find, one wishes to make.

On an unrelated note, have gotten far enough in New Who to meet Teh Jack. He's shiny. Wouldn't mind seeing him naked either. XD

You know, based on Fleshbot posts, I thought that "twink" meant "overly muscled entirely shaved types", but Wikipedia more supports the definition which you use here. Odd.

Most of the porn out there is totally unworthwhile. Every once in a while, I come across something really hot, but it's rare. Mostly I stick to textual smut.

Speaking of smut, or at least smutty things, I'm going to see Shortbus later tonight. Hopefully it'll be good.

My sweetie agrees with the Wikipedia usage--that's the one I know. I think Fleshbot uses it to mean "gay porn model who isn't fuzzy."

Every once in a while I come across something hot, too, but never involving a male. Sigh.

Where do you obtain your textual smut? (Besides fic; that I know. ;))

How was Shortbus? Am planning to see it myself at some point this week.

Alas, Shortbus was not playing! It plays at Coolidge at three times - except Tuesdays. Bah, I say. We wound up renting The Thirteenth Floor instead, which was great fun, as existentialist scifi flicks go.

I pick up paper books of smut from time to time - mostly from Circlet Press - and I read blogs like http://onelifetaketwo.blogspot.com/ . I also enjoy this long serial http://www.pendorwright.com/journals/ which is occasionally updated. It's a little corny sometimes, but some of it is quite hot.

I actually don't read much fic at all; I don't think I've read any in the past year, except perhaps for the occasional piece of amusing crappiness that Lisa tosses my way.

Yeah, I remember the Thirteenth Floor being quite spiffy.

Shortbus woez! If I knew when [livejournal.com profile] ayalanya and I were going, I'd propose coordination, but I don't...

How is Lisa? We've been extremely out of touch for a while...

I'll probably catch Shortbus on video at some point. I'm going to try to have more social gatherings at my home in the coming year; that can be part of this plan.

Lisa's doing pretty well. She's moving to the Baltimore area soon, with her boy. I hope they decide to move back, but for now, that's where the work is, for him.

Thanks
