letterblade: (apocalypse)
Taking pure post-porn downtime to bask in my comment love.

God. You guys are wonderful.

*plays air guitar*

Should start writing again soon. Time to wade through the whole mess of porn reaction on Albus' end. (He is being such a dick through parts of this fic. *thwaps him with Project Venture's rubber chicken*) But before then--the midnight dance!

Okay, so the last half-hour was spent just plain being cracky with the Project Venture folks. Craaaaaaaack!

And we are two-thirds of the way through! The third shift begins! And as the third shift begins, I head into the hardcore angst. Must start writing again. Should see if I can move laptop power supply into living room for greater concentration without dying battery.

Aaaaand two minutes until post sign. Mimsy! Borogrove! Spaaaaaaaaaaaaam!

Off to inspect sexually suggestive sheep sculptures from Canberra. (There seems to be an Aussie theme to this evening.)

Quote, with great solemnity: A coffee pot is not a bong.

Coffee! Coffee is my friend right now.

I can see the pros and cons to Blogathoning with a large group of folks. The good thing is that they help you stay awake--I don't think I could make it this far without you guys. The bad thing, especially if you're working on something specific, as I am, is that they distract you.

Now they're singing the Happy Happy Joy Joy song, as conducted with a sonic screwdriver.

Fuckityyyyy! Need to get to writing. Writerbrain is slowing down. Hope coffee will help. *waits for it to brew*

I feel like I'm...slipping, a little. Partially the writing overload, partially the sleep-dep. Feel a little off the mark. But...bravely onwards! For GOATS! Revision later is my friend.

My fortune: "Tonight will be a lucky night." + in bed! BUT I'M NOT SLEEPING! and I don't have time to have sex. :/

Spam spam spam spam spam spam spam spam SPAMITY SPAM!

This is me having ten minutes in between talking to type up a post for four o-clock!

This is me saying that I exist and am awake.

This is me naked.

This is a bunch of half-naked people showing off their legs.

This is a kitty with my name rubbing against my legs.

This is my being interrupted in my spammy train of thought by somebody needing to get at their laptop cord.

This is me realizing that I have five hours to go, and one more major 'what do I write here?' hole to fill in the fic before I can head into the parts that actually gave me the bunny.

This is me being told that the most dangerous men in the world are this one dude and his friend this other dude.

This is me deciding that I will have to spend the next little while in the next room playing with my dagger and meditating upon fic. OM.

Subject line says it all. Time to go deep, deep into Albus' mind. And hope my laptop battery doesn't die. Finding a quiet place to write in this house is getting harder.

I think that in the final version there may be a few letters through the 80's, rather than jumping straight to OotP-era, but that is more character filler than anything else, solidifying their relationship. I want to be able to finish the basic structure of the fic during Blogathon per se, and I have a darn good chance of finishing that if I jump to the last few letters now.

Only one more entry in this to go. Once I'm done with that, will probably spend the rest of Blogathon spamming and catching up on your comments.

Off to write the last entry. Preparing for brain-spelunking...this may take more than one filler post...

Went outside for a few moments. Dawn's coming up with that wonderful warm smell, and there's dew like beaded glass over all the cars and their paint and their windows, and my descriptive writing skills are suffering noticeably. Perhaps they have cholera.

Hot people making out on the couch. Cute cat trying to kill my laptop cord. Grindelwald going insane. Less than three hours to go.

Life is good.

Also soon will be gathering up links to all the fic-posts. But not quite yet. Breakfast first.

Only three more posts after this! Whoooaaaaaa.

Post-Blogathon exhaustion; had to go play in Photoshop for a bit, y0.

Have gotten some sleep, but forcing myself to stay up until the evening so as to return to a normal sleep cycle. New work starts on Monday.

letterblade: (writer)
I just wrote about 9,500 words of fic in 24 hours.

Impressed? Sponsor!

I will be doing a revision pass on this fic--it's too interesting for me not to. And it does need a lot of work due to the speed-writing, and I'm probably going to be adding a whole pack of letters in the eighties and expanding some of the extant ones considerably. I don't quite have in it me to do a full post-mortem on this fic, but, damn, that was interesting.

I also believe, even though this was my first Blogathon, that epistulary fic is a perfect format for writing something for the same. It provides an overall arc and structure (a lot of what kept me going was anticipation of writing the ending, the last few letters, the last few angst-bombs, because I knew from the start where it was going) while at the same time providing a lot of flexibility (I was able to drop about a decade's worth of material without, I think, too much of a problem). Rambling first-person writing is, for me at least, one of the easiest things to do when sleep-deprived. And I had a particular advantage of the structure, with the initial period of relative civility and sanity, followed by an increasingly speedy plunge into angst and madness, which seems to mirror the general emotional arc of doing Blogathon.

So. I highly recommend this structure!

And, yes, I'm quite proud of myself. I decided I would do it, and I did it, and it was easy and fun!
