Dec. 28th, 2003 12:38 pmDone by the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. (And sometimes the Just Plain Weird.)
The Good: My major present was my brother's cast-off computer. New 17-inch flatscreen monitor, superdrive, OSX.2, 60-gig hard-drive, decent graphics card. (Also the old 30-gig hard-drive, but that's apparently not as reliable.) Also received gift certificate to Borders, assorted checks and free money (more anime!), and a few other things.
The Bad: On the other paw, the processor is still the original old processor, so I've only gained 67 megahertz on my old computer (400). And Mum, in her infinite wisdom and coordination bought me two blank books even though she meant to get only one, and they're both lined because she forgot that I preferred unlined. But that's much less of an issue, given that they're both quite nice books.
The Ugly: Mum also, knowing full well that I have been lusting after iPods since they first came out and have never had even close to the spare money to get myself one, gave one...to herself. Just so she can listen to lectures off of CD rather than tape while she walks around the block. Despite the fact that she has a portable CD player. And doesn't believe in mp3s. I just taught her to use iTunes today. She also came out of the computer buying spree with a brand shiny new 1.6 gigahertz G5. So she can check her email and keep her finances in true style, I suppose. She certainly wouldn't do anything else with it. And I, the digital arts major, the one who wants to run Maya PLE and do decent video editing etc.etc.etc. on her box, have the 467 megahertz castoff. So I'm just a wee bit bitter.

<lj-cut text="Social lives.">The Good: I get to have sex soon.
The Bad: <user site="livejournal.com" user="telepwen"> had a bad bout of flu. I hope she's better now! Because I haven't seen her in <I>ages</I>, and we need to see RoTK together.
The Ugly: I need to not horribly lose touch with people. I'm just too bloody lazy about calling and such. <user site="livejournal.com" user="didodiva">, I will call you soon. Really.
The Just Plain Weird: What the hell is one supposed to do when part of one's psyche is having a wild torrid D/s affair with part of somebody else's psyche? o.O</lj-cut>
<lj-cut text="Fandomage: Myst.">The Good: Semi-new comp (hm, I need to name it) runs <I>real</I>MYST. And I finally made it to Rime. The first new Cyan Age, not counting a brief tour of the garden, I've seen since I played Riven. *awe*joy* And went through all the other Ages too. Bizarre flashbacks to the DMVs. *shudders*
The Bad: The fact that I've not yet edited the DMVs. *eyes fic warily*
The Ugly: The fact that I'm permanently stuck a game behind the fandom just because I'm a Mac user. *twiddles thumbs and glares at Ubi* I don't even want to watch a trailer for Uru or such, much as I'd love to see the Pretty. It's too frustrating.</lj-cut>
<lj-cut text="Fandomage: Bebop and other philosophically inclined anime.">The Good: Decided, for the first time ever, to see what the commentary on End of Eva is like. It turned out to not suck. It's half the three people (the two producers and some semi-random fanboy who is an utter geek about the occult stuff and who did a few backup voices--SEELE 06, that sort of thing) making silly comments and half the afformentioned random fanboy explaining some of the occult stuff and mystical references. I haven't watched the whole thing yet, but it made me go squee.
The Bad: And I <I>still</I> need to keep in touch with people. *prods self to write back to <user site="livejournal.com" user="weemallard">*
The Ugly: The fact that this otherwise lovely and sexy and fascinating Vicious/Gren bunny sitting on my desk <I>makes no sense.</I> *pokes it with chopsticks*</lj-cut>
I think that's all for the moment. I'll post other stuff if necessary later, at any rate. The room is cold and my fingers are getting sluggish.
