My random opinion/discovery of the day:
Brass quintets are sexy. Especially when they're playing music that's either oddly delicate (for brass) or archaically choral (Hovhannes roxors!) or startling modernist (conducted by Ron Anderson bouncing about like a maniac). Gorgeous and powerful and strangely compelling.
Of course, the quintet in question is also all composed of attractive guys (all-male ensemble! at Bennington!) who posed naked (sans strategic instruments) for their poster. And the first trumpeter (and he can make that thing sing--such a clear, delicate sound) is one of the readers for my project, and what with all my boy-crazy-deprivation this term, I'm inevitably lusting after any pretty men I'm around long enough, never mind sitting in a room recording for several hours...eeerrrrrrgh.
But still. Brass quintets are sexy.
